The Tsum Valley is a sacred Himalayan valley in northern Gorkha, Nepal. The valley, well known as a center of spiritual learning and meditation, is on the Kyimu Lung pilgrimage route across the central Himalaya and is a haven rich in culture and religion. The name Tsum is derived from the Tibetan word Tsombo, meaning ‘Vivid’ - the holy hidden valley of happiness.
This trek offers magnificent views of mountains, hills and forest, visiting caves and monasteries, and signs of the Buddhist beliefs are everywhere as the trek passes chortens and stone slabs carved with images of gods and in the many prayer flags. We will see the mountain ranges of Ganesh Himal (VII ,VIII and IX), Yongdol Himal, Chhurke Himal, Kipu Himal, Sringi Himal and the Budha ranges as well as some Tibetan peaks.
The local Tsumba people are mostly of Tibetan origin having migrated down from the border to establish trading routes into Nepal.
The Tsum Valley Trek overlaps with the Manaslu circuit trek and can be added as an extension to that trek. Days 4 to 10 of the Tsum Valley trek are added to the Manaslu itinerary after you reach Jagat on day 4. This is a popular for option for trekkers who have enough time (20 days total)
