MANASLU CIRCUIT TREK (11 TO 14 DAYS)

Epic trek round the 8th highest mountain in the world

Maximum elevation 5106m

Difficulty: Challenging

Location :- Gorkha District manang, Gandaki Zone Nepal.

Start /End point :- Soti Khola / Dharapani

Season: March to May and October to mid-December

The Manaslu Circuit Trek is more remote and spectacular than many, with rough steep tracks and fewer visitors. It is culturally fascinating with strong continuing links to Tibet in the upper Budhi Gandaki river, and has a gradually ascent to the high pass of  Larkya La (5106m) allowing gradual acclimatization. There are amazing views of Mt Manaslu the world's 8th highest mountain, with the trek passing Base Camp.

The trek makes a circuit of Manaslu, the eighth highest mountain in the world at 8163 m above sea level. Its name, meaning “mountain of the spirit”, comes from the Sanskrit word, manasa, meaning “intellect” or “soul”. Manaslu is in the western part of Nepal; a remote, forested area of natural beauty with Tibetan style culture and traditions. The route passes over suspension bridges and by dramatic waterfalls, with stunning views of the western Ganesh Himal range, Annapurna II,  Himalchuli and many other peaks. The local people are primarily farmers, growing corn and millet, some with apple orchards or chicken farms. They buy clothes and shoes from nearby Tibet where they also sell their Yak (one Yak costs around 1000 USD !).

During the trip we stay in local lodges or tea houses which are basic but comfortable. Each lodge serves meals from locally grown vegetables -  potatoes, cabbage and beans together with cornbread, rice or dal which are brought by donkey from Aarughat. The lodges rely on solar power for light and charging for mobiles and camera batteries may be limited. Wifi is  available but slow and cell phone coverage is available other than a couple of days but only 2G - no data!
