This trek passes through the beautiful Langtang National Park. Langtang village was destroyed during the April 2015 earthquake. However the resilient local people have been busy rebuilding, and hotels and tea houses in the village are now open - trekking here provides them much needed support. This is a perfect trek for those who have 10 days to spend and are may’be discovering Nepal for the first time. The people are Buddhist Tamang, a Tibetan style culture, and we will have the opportunity to visit a traditional monastery and other aspects of local life.  Spectacular views on this trek include the mountains of Langtang Ri (6370m), Langtang Lirung (7227m), Kim Sung (6780m), Langshisha Ri (6370m) ,Yala Peak (5500m), Baden Powell Peak (5600m), Ganchenpo (6300m), Dorje Lakpa, Sisa Pang La, Gangala Rang, Ganesh Himal Rang and other Tibetan mountains. We travel along the Langtang river crossed with suspension bridges and visit the glacier, high alpine pastures and rhododendron and bamboo forests. It is possible to see Himalayan bears, red panda and monkeys. You will also see traditional mani walls and chorten as well as meeting local people, many who are subsistence farmers.

Note, there is a small micro hydro power station in the valley so a number of the tea houses have electricity but the Lama hotel and Sing Gompa are solar power only.

Day 2

DAY 01

DETAILED ITINERARY

Day 1 - Kathmandu to Syabrubesi at 1460 m

6-7 hrs

We leave our hotel early for the drive to the trailhead at Syabrubesi. It is possible to take a bus (the cheaper but slower/less comfortable option) or  we can arrange a private or shared jeep transfer (our recommended option), which takes about 5-6 hours . The road is quite good until reaching Trisuli where we take lunch in a local restaurant. After lunch, the road is rough, winding and dusty (due to road buildling work  in progress), but we are rewarded by great views of Langtang Lirung and Ganesh Himal. We enter the Langtang national park near Dhunche and after a few miles further we reach our destination for the night, the village of Syabrbesi on the banks of the Trisuli river. Overnight in lodge.
