ANNAPURNA BASE CAMP TREK (7-11 DAYS)

The Annapurna Base Camp (ABC) trek passes through one of the most beautiful highland landscapes in Nepal. As you trek through this serene environment you will see Rhododendron, Pine and Bamboo forests and breathtaking Himalayan views of the Annapurna range, particularly spectacular at sunrise and sunset.  The journey will be an adventure both during your ascent to base camp and on the return.

 

The local culture of the region is typically a mix of ethnic Gurung and Magar cultures with small settlements and villages. Reaching an altitude of 4100m we will see over 15 mountains at close range including two of the 14 mountains in the world over 8,000m:  Dhaulagiri at 8167m and Annapurna I at 8091m; as well as other peaks such as Annapurna South, Annapurna III, Machhapuchhre, Annapurna IV , Lamjung Himal and Baraha Shikhar.

ITINERARY

Day 01 Fly from Kathmandu to Pokhara at 820m. Drive to Nayapul and trek to Tikhedunga at 1540m (4 hrs)

Day 02 Trek from Tikhedunga to Ghorepani 2770m (?? hrs)

Day 03 Trek from Ghorepani to Tadapani at 2592m ( 5/6 hrs) walk.

Leave early in the morning for a 45 minutes hike to Poon Hill through the rhododendrons forest for the spectacular view of mountains including Mt Dhaulagiri (8167m) Mt Annapurna I (8091m), and  Machhapuchhre (6997m) and unobstructed views of the sunrise over the mountains.

Day 04 Trek from Tadapani to Chhomrong 2175m (5-6 hrs)

Day 05 Trek from Chhomrong to Dovan 2500m (5 hrs)

Day 06 Trek from Dovan to Machhapuchhre Base Camp (MBC) at  3700m (6 hrs)

Day 07 Trek from MBC to ABC at 4135m (2 hrs)

Day 08 Trek from ABC to Dovan 2500m (5-6 hrs)

Day 09 Trek from Dovan to Chhomrong 2175m (5-6 hrs)

Day 10 Trek from Chhomrong to Ghandruk village at 1935m (5 hrs)

Day 11 Trek from Ghandruk to Nayapul at 1065m (3 hrs) and Drive to Pokhara

Day 12 Morning trip to Peace Stupa by car (1 hr)

We will see a panoramic view of the high Himalayas from Manaslu to the Dhaulagiri range,  Machhapuchhre (the sacred Fishtail Mountain) and the Annapurna massif as well as the scenic Pokhara valley and Phewa Lake. Then we will walk for an hour down to Phewa through the forest and take the boat to cross Phewa Lake, passing the small island where Temple Barahi is situated. Overnight at a hotel in Pokhara.

Day 13 Drive to Kathmandu (6-7 hrs)
